WINTER 2005 SUN PROGRAM CLASSES

Before School Class for 1st-5th graders

SUNrise Club (Monday-Friday 7:30-8:30 AM)

At school a little early? Have fun with the SUNrise Club where you can read, finish homework, and participate in art projects and games before school starts. The Club takes place 5 days a week but students are not required to attend every day.

After School Classes for 3rd-5th graders

Each class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday takes place ONCE a week for SIX weeks. Snack will be served on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-3:15 PM.

Student Council

ONLY for students who are currently members of the Hall Student Council.

Sewing for Fun II (ONLY for students who took Sewing for Fun I this fall):

Learn how to use a sewing machine to make a pillow case and apron!

Culture Club: Come learn about your culture and the cultures of other students through the hands-on experiences of book making, poetry, arts & crafts, and cooking!

Superstar Girls Club (4th-5th grade girls who were NOT in fall Girls Club): Come celebrate who you are- awesome girls, with awesome futures! We'll learn about what makes you YOU, what you can do with your future, and how to be happy, healthy and in control of your life! We'll play games, do cool activities, give away prizes, and have LOTS of fun!

Wednesday 1:30-2:30 PM

Yoga: This class is a chance for students to learn the basic techniques of yoga, stretching, and relaxation.

Computer Drawing: Have fun with computer art! Students will use Kid Pix and “How to Draw” books to draw a variety of subjects. Use of the various built-in tools will be explored.

Thursday 3:15-4:15 PM

Mexican Folkloric Dance: Do you love to dance? In this after-school dance class, students will learn Mexican folkdance, La Culebra, from the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and experience the culture and history of Mexico. The class will perform, in traditional Mexican costume, at the SUN Showcase in March.

“Becoming a Love and Logic” Workshop Series: January 18th-February 22nd 6:30-7:30 pm (English only)

Weekly topics include: “Raising Responsible Kids” 1/18: “The Love and Logic Formula” 1/25; “ 'C' Control that's Shared” 2/1; “ 'O' Ownership of the Problem” 2/8; “ 'Opportunity for Thinking/Decision-making” 2/15; “ 'L' Let Consequences do the Teaching” 2/22.
